How to reach us
Write to support@kin-app.org. Kin is made by one person, so the answer comes from a human — usually within three working days.
The sign-in code has not arrived
Kin signs you in with a one-time code sent to your email address, or with Sign in with Apple or Google, which need no code at all.
If the code is not there: look in spam, and check the address for a typo. A code is valid for 10 minutes; a new one can be requested once every 60 seconds. After three wrong entries the code locks — request a fresh one, and note that requesting a new code does not unlock the old one, which is deliberate.
If the address already has an account, Kin will not offer to create a second one, and the other way round: an address with no account cannot be sent a sign-in code. Use the right door — “Create an account” or “Sign in” — and the app will tell you which one it is.
Using Kin on more than one device
Sign in with the same account on both. Your ledger arrives on its own; changes made on either device turn up on the other within seconds of the app being opened.
Different sign-in methods can lead into the same account. If you signed up by email and later press “Continue with Google” with the same address, you land in the account you already had — not a new one. The list of ways in lives under More → Account → Sign-in methods.
Where is my data
On your phone. Kin’s local database is the original, not a cache — everything works with no network and with no account at all.
If you have signed in, a copy is also on our server in the Netherlands so that your other devices can read it. What that copy contains, who can see it and how long it is kept is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Deleting your account
More → Account → Delete the account. The app asks you to type DELETE, then erases the account and everything in it. There is no undo, so it is worth exporting anything you want to keep first (More → Export the data).
If you cannot get into the app at all, write to privacy@kin-app.org from the address the account uses and we will do it for you within 30 days.
Signing out is a different thing: it removes the local copy from that phone and leaves the account standing, so signing in again brings everything back.
Reporting a bug
The report that gets fixed fastest says: what you did, what you expected to happen, what happened instead, your iOS version, and a screenshot if the problem is something you can see. If a number is wrong, the amounts and currencies involved help more than anything else.
